Revisit Norms
Norms: John briefly reviewed meeting norms that were adopted by Green Street School for all committee work.
Survey: John recently sent home a parent survey that was mandated by the district. The PTA is also working on a more detailed survey specific to Green Street School. This would be given out during spring parent conferences. Some of the areas that will be looked at are school climate, classroom climate, winter sports, healthy snacks, and fund raising efforts.
Girls on the run: This is a research based curriculum to help girls build self-esteem. The cost of the program is $70.00 and we would like to look into the possibility of reducing the cost of the program. It was decided that $10.00 per runner pending approval from treasurer.
Binder: Rachel and Marybeth reviewed the existing binder which they have been revamping.
Brochure: Name change to PTO allows us to access information for free. The PTO can be as formal or informal as you want. New brochure is ready to be printed after proofed.
February Newsletter: Next newsletter will be sent out next week.
Formal Officer Elections: Marybeth Sweeney brought in Robert's Rules of Order. It would be helpful in guiding our committee to have these guidelines. We will decide at our next meeting whether or not to adopt this format. We will be electing a treasurer that would organize the PTO books and provide monthly information regarding the funds.
Childcare and First Alert:
John will be sending out notice of future meetings on our First Alert Now system. Gale will be checking into getting high school students to provide daycare during PTO meetings. The high school students would receive community service, and would read stories and play games with the children.
Next Meeting: Monday, March 5th @ 6:30-7:30. Please listen to the First Alert Now before the next meeting to see if childcare is in place. A suggestion box will be placed in a public area to help set agenda items for our meetings. Rachel and Londa will bring a suggestion box format to be looked at on March 6th.
