When young Vicky gets, instead of her dream bicycle, a dollhouse on her birthday, she is extremely disappointed. But what she doesn't realize at first was that it matters how you play with them...
Filled with terror and suspense, I recommend Among the Dolls by William Sleator to 3rd through 6th graders. I think it would be good for that age range because it's a pretty easy book to read and would be great for someone who doesn't like to read much but likes that kind of writing. There is good writing and after the second chapter I couldn't even put it down before finishing it! I loved this book, and I hope someone else will too. Enjoy, just don't get nightmares!
